Description:
The Government of the Republic of Burundi has received a grant from the African Development Bank (AfDB) for the Ruvyironza Water Resources Development and Multi-Use Dam Project (PRODERER). The project involves the construction of a 50m high composite dam with a storage capacity of approximately 372 Mm³, enabling irrigation of 14,674 ha, hydropower generation of 22 MW, potable water supply, flood/drought regulation, and restoration of degraded catchments. The project requires the recruitment of three international experts to serve on an Independent Dam Safety Panel of Experts (DSPoE) to provide technical review and advisory services throughout project preparation, ensuring compliance with international dam safety standards.
