• Tenders are invited for Services of Freelance Engineers to Carry Out Water Design Studies in 6 Districts of Rwanda. Scope of work The scope of this assignment is as follows: Conduct a desk review of existing documents, including existing baseline and feasibility studies, asset registry, existing/ongoing and/or approved projects, population settlement plans, ), to have a general information on existing water distribution networks. Carry out an inventory of water sources and water users in the district and measure their discharge and water Mapping all the existing water supply systems and assess the status of each of their components. Assess water demand balance in all the sectors based on 25 years horizon considering rapid urbanization factors and other social-economic Design water networks, including rehabilitation and upgrading of existing networks, new water supply systems, and water extensions required to bring the district to full infrastructure coverage considering existing plans of water production, extensions, and approved Produce digitalized maps, plans, and technical drawings for the proposed water supply networks, extensions, and new water Produce profiles and hydraulic calculations of all proposed rehabilitation, upgrading, extension, and new water supply Digitalize all water systems, extensions, and interconnection in one Topographic map and Ortho photo Maps) using an appropriate scale (1: 1000 or any other scale deemed appropriate to present the maps). Review and update location and general arrangement plan for existing and planned networks as well as the location of available sources to be exploited for subsequent Gain knowledge of current and projected population in the 25 years ‘horizon and use these data to design water networks that meet current and future water demand; and Provide the detailed designs of proposed water infrastructures including structural analysis. Expected outputs Phase1: Data collection and analysis Situation analysis report and options proposed to ensure full coverage of water supply infrastructure in all 6 Map of all water systems, including new proposed water systems, existing water systems in good conditions, possible extensions, existing water systems that need rehabilitation and extensions, and interconnections of water systems based on existing and collected data from the Water demand analysis and water balance Proposed alternative sources of water in case of inadequacy of existing natural springs in the district understudy, to meet water demand in 25 years-horizon. Feasibility study and situation analysis reports (one per District) including socio-economic data. Summarized tables of proposed water systems based on location and other important details Phase II : Detailed designs Detailed design of proposed water systems and water treatment plants including hydraulic calculations, drawings, and profiles for all proposed and approved options, as well as structural analysis. Final and updated digitalized maps and hydraulic profiles of the proposed water supply systems (including existing and new proposed Detailed bill of quantities for all proposed water supply systems Final detailed design reports (one per district).
